Announcing Advisor: Joe Urgo
We are pleased to introduce Joe Urgo as an advisor to Bloom.
Joe is the co-founder of District0x, an Ethereum dApp decentralizing the world’s marketplaces. Prior to this, Joseph founded Sourcerers.io, a consultancy supporting leading Ethereum-based projects. Joe previously spent three years as an Operations Manager for Coinbase. Prior to Coinbase, he was a derivatives trader for Three Arrows Capital, an international hedge fund based in Singapore.
Joe has been a friend an advisor to the Bloom project for quite some time and we’re excited to share some details on the relationship.
Community & Transparency
For the last few years, we’ve looked towards Joe’s community presence and commitment to transparency as a beacon of best practice for projects to follow. Since January 2017, Joe’s maintained the DappDaily, an ongoing Medium publication sharing some of the news and events in the Ethereum community. He’s been actively involved in Reddit and Slack communities and regularly advises projects on marketing and community relations.
Joe introduced Bloom to the concept of a weekly development update. District0x maintains a consistent, ongoing weekly report about the details and updates for the project which regularly draws a warm reception from their community.
Additionally, Joe provided introductions to key artists, designers, and auditors to further support the Bloom project. Joe added guidance, direction and advice on the creation of our protocol overview video, see below:
Peer to Peer Lending District
We’re excited to continue development on mutual projects. Together, we are actively exploring the creation of a p2p lending district build on the D0xINFRA framework which leverages the Bloom protocol for identity verification and credit scoring.
District0x is a network of decentralized marketplaces. Projects like Bloom can create, operate, and govern. Powered by Ethereum, Aragon, and IPFS. We share a similar stack in Bloom as Bloom is also developed on Ethereum, Aragon and IPFS.
This lending district would serve as a peer-to-peer driven marketplace for lending. An analogy could be made to LocalBitcoins. The district0x based lending district would allow anyone in the world to post a request for a loan and peers to review Bloom’s information about the loan without having to go through a financial institution.
Outside of Bloom, Joe and I have maintained a consistent conversation around cryptocurrency since early 2013. I’ve long admired his views, foresight, and commitment to transparency. Both myself and the Bloom team will continue to work with Joe to further our commitment to community.
