Introducing Bloom Radar: Free Personal Hack Monitoring

Today, we are excited to announce Bloom Radar, free personal data breach monitoring for Bloom app users.

Data breaches and identity theft are rapidly on the rise. In 2018 alone, more than 2.6 billion records were stolen or exposed in over 1,200 data breaches around the world. These records are often bought and sold on the dark web, where hackers and identity thieves profit from your stolen information.

With centralized databases being hacked or springing massive leaks and exposing hundreds of millions of credentials on a near daily basis, being able to easily monitor hacks for compromised data is integral to taking the steps necessary to protect your identity.

Bloom Radar monitors data breaches and alerts you when your information has been involved in a breach. Radar makes it easier than ever to monitor whether your information has been compromised or accounts put at risk so that you can act swiftly to guard against identity fraud and mitigate the potential fallout.

Today's currently available “dark web monitoring” services are highly ineffective, sometimes taking months to report information. These services are often built by the very same companies that collect and sell your data for profit, or charge you for additional services after they have exposed your information.

Unlike many of today’s companies, data security and privacy are at the heart of Bloom’s mission. At Bloom, we’re dedicated to empowering people to take control of their credit and identity, building groundbreaking experiences and workflows for the everyday person, and delivering modern technology that enables increased security, transparency, and financial access. Today’s announcement marks another major milestone towards that mission.

With BloomID and Bloom Radar, you can take back control of your data with a cryptographically-secure identity while monitoring the latest data breaches for compromised information so that you can take measures to protect your identity and minimize the damage.

To start, Bloom will be integrating with HaveIBeenPwned to scan users’ email addresses against their datasets as new hacks are added. Looking forward, Bloom will also be building an infrastructure for alerts based on additional generic data that is found leaked online.
